Brennan's Superior Sand - 24oz Bag
I used the fine grade to obtain the pebbly surface shown in this photo. Note the subtle color variation and natural texture. Generally, I sprinkle both the fine and the coarse sand over my natural earth to add additional textures and depth to the areas surrounding factories and warehouses. You don't have to be an artist to make convincing scenery. The secret is to avoid uniformity. Superior Sand is a dark colored, grainy sand direct from the shores of Lake Superior. It is an excellent ground cover for industrialized areas. This fine blend of natural colors is perfect for creating that dark, gritty texture found so often around industrial buildings, sidings, and RR yards. Also, it's great for transition areas along the right of way, alongside streets, etc. Every serious modeler needs a fine and a coarse bag of this completely natural product. It just doesn't get any more realistic than this.
